The Hyatt Regency Chicago sits along the picturesque Chicago Riverwalk near several of the city’s notable attractions, including Grant and Millennium parks, Navy Pier, and The Magnificent Mile. This spring, it completed a major $150 million renovation project that revitalized all guest rooms and suites, as well as some of its meeting and event spaces. Additional plans to update other event spaces on-site are slated to be complete next year.
“This latest update to Chicago’s largest hotel follows a $168 million rejuvenation of our lobby and meeting spaces in 2013, bringing our total investment to more than $318 million in less than 10 years,” says Mark Wagner, hotel manager for the Hyatt. “The recent renovation modernizes our facilities, enhancing guest experience and ensuring our competitiveness in the market as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. Our redesigned rooms, suites, and ballrooms provide a refreshed and inviting atmosphere—attracting both new and returning visitors to the largest hotel in Chicago.”
The property offers 2,032 guest rooms and 240,000 square feet of function space, making it well-suited for large events needing overnight accommodations for attendees. The recently renovated Regency and Crystal ballrooms offer space for up to 1,600 and 1,000 people, respectively. “The ballrooms now feature modern finishes and a neutral color palette, providing a fresh take on gatherings in the heart of downtown Chicago,” says Wagner. “Our meeting and event spaces have also been updated with new architectural lighting, fresh flooring, wall coverings, bathrooms, furniture, and curated artwork in pre-function spaces—all designed by Ealain Studio.”
Additional on-site spaces for planners to consider include the Plaza Ballroom, the Lakeshore Meeting Rooms, the Grand Ballroom, the Riverside Exhibit Hall, the Founders Suites, the Stetson Conference Center, and more.
Guests and attendees staying at the property will find a slew of noteworthy amenities to enjoy on-site, such as a 24-hour fitness center and four culinary outlets. American Craft Kitchen & Bar serves farm-to-table fare all day, Stetsons Modern Steak + Sushi features an open kitchen and sushi bar and is open evenings, Market Chicago offers on-the-go snacks and drinks, and Big Bar is the longest freestanding bar in North America and serves handcrafted cocktails.
“Event planners should consider Hyatt Regency Chicago for its unparalleled flexibility, extensive amenities, and prime location in the heart of downtown,” says Wagner. “Our state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated staff ensure that every event, whether large or small, is executed flawlessly.”
