DuPage County to Grow, Prosper and Share in New Tourism Plan

By M+E Staff

Hello readers,

In conjunction with National Travel & Tourism Week, the DuPage County Convention and Visitors Bureau will be rolling out a new strategic plan to grow the tourism market in the 38 western suburban communities it represents. Most recently the bureau added the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation to its roster and is in talks to add the Forest Preserve District.

“We thought National Travel & Tourism Week would be the perfect time to share the details of our new strategic plan,” says Beth Marchetti, DCVB executive director, in a supplied statement. “We’ve already put some tactics into action, and look forward to collaborating with all of our partners to further develop tourism in DuPage County.”

The plan centers around a core goal to “grow, prosper and share” tourism in the county—officials will be looking to maximize partnerships, resources and opportunities to attract business and leisure travelers as a top destination in Illinois. To do so, the CVB will first target business travelers and then proceed with initiatives aimed at consumers. Some of the unique features touted will be the array of outdoor recreation, athletic facilities and the unique science laboratories in the region.

A series of new hires and upcoming rebranding of the DuPage County CVB are also aimed at attracting the international market. A video encompassing the new plan can be seen here.

Happy Planning!
