By M+E Staff

The Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association recently presented Dean Lane, general manager of the Palmer House Hilton, with the Hotelier of the Year award for the Chicago Region at the 16th Annual Stars of the Industry Awards.

Chosen by a panel of 34 judges, The Hotelier of the Year is one of the most competitive awards in the industry; Lane beat out 661 other nominees across 11 categories to take home the award. He will go on to compete for the national honor presented by the American Hotel & Lodging Association this upcoming March.

“It is an honor to be recognized for this prestigious award in such a competitive marketplace,” General Manager Dean Lane says. “I want to thank the IHLA for the selection and also congratulate all of the other nominees as we try to advance our industry and provide the best service possible.”

The award is given out to one individual who exemplifies true character and passion for his or her position and hotel, as well as exhibits strong leadership to all associates. The winners demonstrate innovative and successful implementations of positive work environments while serving their community and exceeding guest expectations.

The other finalists for the award were John Wells, general manager of the Hilton Chicago, and Pierre-Louis Giacotto, general manager of Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago.
