Hello Readers!

After nearly two years and a $110 million investment, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) has unveiled the stunning renovation and expansion of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, which makes it the fourth largest Hyatt in the world and the fourth largest hotel in Chicago. The project included construction of a new 460-room tower while the 800 guestrooms in the existing building received a complete renovation.

With a connection to McCormick Place Convention Center, the hotel can easily accommodate conference goers and in-house groups with more than 50,000 square feet of meeting space. The 25,000-square-foot Hyatt Conference Center also underwent a complete renovation, and the hotel added three new boardrooms along with a new business center. Also reconcepted was the Shor restaurant and M/X Lounge, which now offers a private dining room.

This is a solid step forward in the future of Chicago’s conference and convention hub; with a proposed entertainment district and attractions planned for the area around McCormick Place, the city aims to increasingly attract group business.

In celebration, the hotel is now offering planners a special offer for the summer. For new meetings booked between July 1 and September 4, 2013, Hyatt Regency McCormick Place will match or beat guestroom rates from like four diamond hotels and offer free meeting room rental for the general session. In addition guests will receive reduced self-parking costs and free guestroom and general session WiFi (a daily value of $9.99 per guestroom and $500 for general session). As an added bonus, groups that book more than 250 guestrooms will receive a gift card valued at 3% of guestroom revenue toward a future office supply or computer order.
