Hello readers,
The tides are turning with new venues in Chicago, with some of the most creative spaces we’ve seen opening in recent years. The brand-new Shore Club is one of those standouts. The seasonal structure, placed square on the sand near North Avenue Beach and with floor-to-ceiling windows offering unobstructed views of Lake Michigan, evokes a coastal vacation feeling many would travel to exotic locations to find—but is right in our own backyard.
Whereas places like Castaways at North Avenue Beach cater to more casual crowds, Shore Club is a more upscale dining and hangout spot split into three distinct areas—The Restaurant at Shore Club (the only fully-covered segment), the Patio at Shore Club and the Oasis at Shore Club. The Restaurant and Oasis are always open for private event rentals, ideal for weddings, charitable fundraisers and social events.
The Restaurant at Shore Club focuses on a Mediterranean-inspired food menu (heavy on seafood of course), created by Executive Chef Elizabeth Tokarczyk, in partnership with Inspired Catering. Reservations are highly recommended. The Restaurant will also offer Sunday Brunch that promises a described “country club” atmosphere with various food stations. Tickets for brunch are recommended and can be purchased here.
The Patio at Shore Club is a more casual eatery offering lunch and dinner service on a first come, first served basis (no reservations required), and this communal space will soon offer cooking classes, workshops, and art exhibits. The Oasis at Shore Club is the venue’s private lounge space with an array of relaxing cabanas, sunbeds and daybeds for rent. Shared plates and signature cocktails (including a “frosé” mix made of vodka, rosé and peach puree) are the fare here, which makes it ideal for groups.
The beachy feel of Shore Club was expertly designed by d+k Architects and MWorks Architects, LLC. It’s open Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Shirts and shoes are required.
Happy Planning!
