This year’s Academy Awards telecast on February 22 was a night filled with stars and fashion but also poignant speeches about equality and the importance of awareness for health issues like ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease and Alzheimer’s. It was a message echoed by the mission of the annual Oscar Red Carpet Party hosted by the Illinois Young Leadership Committee of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The event took place at Chicago’s Municipal Bar + Dining Company and was hosted by healthy living expert and media personality Ashley Pettit. While guests waited to hear all the big winners, they enjoyed dinner “by the bite,” movie- themed cocktails and participated in a silent auction to benefit JDRF, which in total netted more than $16,000 from the star-studded night.
