Illinois' Twin Cities
Portillo’s is bringing Chicago-style classics to Woodbury on July 11. Originating in 1963 in Villa Park, Illinois, it has since expanded to other states including Indiana, Florida, California, Wisconsin, and Arizona. Portillo’s is known for its high-quality, Chicago-style food, efficient service and vintage-restaurant décor. Some of the restaurant’s featured Chicago-style menu items include Italian Beef sandwiches, Chicagostyle hot dogs, burgers, salads and its famous chocolate cake, baked fresh in stores each morning.
A new trend is sweeping across the Chicago event industry, unifying the people that take part in producing live experiences with the places that host them. Established event production and catering companies have ventured into opening their own well-equipped spaces, designed for planners, by planners. We took a look at three trailblazers—Kehoe Designs, Paramount Events and The Revel Group—that are making events feel right at home.

It was the day no one thought they would see happen—at least in this lifetime. On Nov. 2, the eternal underdogs the Chicago Cubs won the 2016 World Series Championship, ending a 108-year wait and gaining a whole lot of new appreciation and fans as a result. Just 10 weeks later they would celebrate yet again at the annual fan convention at the Sheraton Grand Chicago, which was an undeniable success thanks to the quick actions of a team of event producers.
Rockford residents and visitors now have reason to venture into the rain with the city’s latest public art installation. Rockford Rain Art is on display at 12 locations throughout the downtown, River and Midtown districts, where community-inspired images like the Rockford IceHogs mascot become visible when sidewalks are wet. First installed in September of 2016, the project has had substantial public success, and a second round of Rain Art is anticipated this summer.

The 1970s make a comeback at Wicker Park Restaurant
Choice Hotels International, Inc., Crescent Hotels & Resorts and Murphy Asset Management announced the opening of Chicago’s newest contemporary hotel, Cambria Chicago Loop - Theatre District.
Managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, Cambria Chicago Loop - Theatre District, will be located above the Oriental Theatre at 32 W. Randolph.

Recipes like “Green Mountain Dynamite” were created by Tippling Bros. with the guidance of nutritionist Keri Glassman. The idea: to create healthier cocktails that still provide a tasty experience
