Chateau on the Lake Resort, Spa & Convention Center has added Gayla Welsh as corporate sales manager, and Jessica Wrenfrow as event sales manager.
The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence and Meeting Professionals International have come together to offer a new, enhanced experience for global meetings and incentive professionals at the SITE + MPI Global Forum. The crossover between both industries and memberships sparked the idea for the event, taking place Jan. 12–14, 2018 at the Rome Cavalieri Waldorf Astoria in Italy—a hotel in the heart of Rome.
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis has finished the first year of a program meant to reduce hotel CO2 emissions, and it has been successful.
The project primarily focuses on composting, its fully operational in the hotel. In the first 11 months, hotel teams composted 415,000 pounds of unused food waste. The composted scraps are picked up by St. Louis Composting and sent to a facility in Belleville, Ill. The compost is sold to homeowners and landscapers in the St. Louis area.
Canopy by Hilton, in a joint development between Crockett Urban Ventures and Merritt Development Group, plans to develop Canopy by Hilton San Antonio River Walk. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2018, the hotel will be managed by White Lodging Services.

The JW Marriott Grand Rapids is taking an active approach to New Year’s resolutions with a new Wellness Break Menu, offering activities such as yoga, kickboxing and more.
The idea was inspired by a recent study of Fortune 100 companies that found employees’ overall well-being translates to improved productivity and increased likelihood of staying with their company for more than one year. The menu, which also offers light therapy and mindfulness activities, is intended to help groups increase productivity during meetings.
In 2017, Visit Milwaukee, the region’s destination marketing organization, celebrated 50 years of business.
Hotel Indigo Denver is set to open in Denver’s Union Station neighborhood in mid-January of 2017. It will be located at 1801 Wewatta Street and will have 180 guest rooms and 1,188 square feet of meeting and event space.
Hotel Chaco, a modern luxury hotel inspired by the ancient civilization of Chaco Canyon, is set to open in Old Town Albuquerque in April, 2017. The property, which was designed by Heritage Hotels & Resorts, broke ground in August 2016 and the exterior is slated for completion this month.
On Jan. 5–8 in Las Vegas, CES 2017, a global tech community conference, is expected to draw 50,000 industry professionals from more than 150 countries. The show will feature exhibits from 57 countries—up 9 percent from last year. More than 600 startups from 33 countries will be featured this year.
Meeting Professionals International has just announced their leaders for the Board of Directors and the MPI Foundation Global Board of Trustees in 2017. All members are effective Jan. 1, 2017, and their term is up on Dec. 31, 2017.
