Kindred Resorts & Hotels has added seven new properties to the family. A collection of independent hotels and resorts focused on the group and meetings industry, these new properties are each uniquely suited for event planning professionals.

Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri, is set in the Ozark Mountains. This collection of lodges offers rustic elegance alongside modern comforts. With more than 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and a new 50,000-square-foot recreation center that includes a bowling alley, rock climbing, kids' wilderness adventure club, bumber cars, rope course, go-cart track and more, there is fun for everyone.

In Mount Tremper, New York, Emerson Resort & Spa sits in the Catskill Mountains, just two hours from Manhattan. Emerson Resort & Spa offers three large meeting spaces and multiple breakout areas. Their recent renovation included a new signature restaurant, updated guest rooms, and a full-service spa. They also have several local offerings, including mushroom walks and wine excursions.

Longwood Venues, a collection of venues across New England, is perfect for weddings, galas, meetings, showers, launch parties, fundraisers, and fashion shows. With locations in Boston, the Narragansett Bay, Newport, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod there is an option for any type of New England event with Longwood Venues.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, the Sunrise Springs Spa Resort offers more than 28,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meetings spaces designed for groups seeking healthy living. Set on 70 acres with ponds and gardens, the resort has several exciting offerings, including their Puppy Enrichment Program which enables guests to play with puppies in training with Assistance Dogs of the West. They also offer lawn games and wellness seminars so that guests leave feeling refreshed and healthy.

Riverside, California's Mission Inn Hotel & Spa features Old World charm throughout their 238 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. The new executive chef for the hotel's four restaurants, John Beriker, has 25 years of experience in prestigious institutions and has worked directly with award-winning chef Wolfgang Puck.

The Pridwin Beach Hotel and Cottage in Shelter Island, New York was established in 1927. The hotel is located on Crescent Beach and offers 1,150 square feet of meeting space. Open seasonally, the Pridwin offers a range of activities including a private pool, small beach, and bar, lounge, and restaurant overlooking the bay.

Less than two hours from Boston, the Weekapaug Inn in Rhode Island sits on a private and tranquil peninsula in the Quonochontaug Pond and offers 27 guest rooms decorated with modern Yankee décor. Their new naturalist and director of recreation runs both complimentary and paid activities for guests, including hikes and nature watching.

Event planners often schedule meetings and events in natural places near wilderness areas, at waterfront resorts, and at mountain event spaces. But there are many ways to bring nature into your events by making use of the architectural concept of biophilic design, which can be defined as seeking to engage most people’s innate desires to affiliate with nature in the modern built environment. If you think of yourself as an “event architect,” you can use nature to stimulate the senses. 

 

It won’t be quite the same as ordering a pizza or nachos to be delivered to your front door but getting eats at venues is taking a leap toward convenience with a new collaboration: DoorDash has become ASM Global’s “On-Demand Delivery Platform” partner, launching at ASM Global’s top North American arenas, stadiums, theaters, and convention centers in the coming months. The partnership will allow attendees to skip traditional lines by leveraging DoorDash services to order within the arena for pickup.

 

Located on the River Walk, the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk has completed its $38 million renovation just in time for its 40thanniversary. The renovation broke ground in December 2021. The hotel’s 602 guestrooms and 28 suites were redesigned to reflect an upscale urban experience.
