Fairmont Pittsburgh Attracts Jean-Paul Lourdes to Lead New Restaurant Concept

Fairmont Pittsburgh announced its  soon-to-be revealed restaurant concept, which will replace Habitat and open in late September.

Jean-Paul Lourdes, executive chef and newest member to the Fairmont Pittsburgh team will lead the restaurant.

“We are very excited to welcome Jean-Paul. His background is immensely impressive and we are fortunate to have his talent to lead the culinary direction of our new restaurant,” says Matthew Sterne, general manager.

A Tasty Break: The Sea Salt Workshop at Terranea Resort

I’ve been spending a lot of time experimenting with sea salt lately. Grilling fish with Meyer-lemon infused salt, adding a pinch of rosemary salt to pinto beans, making a vinaigrette with a smoked sea salt, sprinkling fruit or popcorn with dashes of this or that. A few weeks ago I took the Sea Salt Workshop at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Held the first Saturday of every month, at a cost of $70 per person, the workshops are led by the resort’s chefs.

InnSight Hotel Management Group to Manage Element by Westin Hotel

Bend, Oreg., will get its first Element by Westin hotel set to be constructed on Wall Street. Managed by InnSight Hotel Management Group, the hotel will be environmentally friendly.

The 100-room hotel will have a range of amenities, including keyless check-in, bicycles to borrow, in-room filtered water, eco-friendly operations, kitchens in every suite, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour fitness studio, saline pool, complimentary breakfast and daily evening receptions, and more.
