Christopher Meredith was recently hired as the group director of food and beverage of Grace Bay Resorts.
1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as group director of food and beverage?
The governing board of Associations North in St. Paul announced Angela Kisskeys and Sarah Ruzek as the organization’s co-directors. The two will take over for president, Kathy Johnson, CAE. Johnson, who served the association for 28 years, will retire June 2017.
Kohler Co. has announced the appointment of Doug Stringer as head chef of The Immigrant Restaurant, located at The American Club resort-hotel at Destination Kohler.
Stringer joined Kohler Co. in 2015 as sous chef of Riverbend, where he oversaw all facets of kitchen operations, purchasing, food cost management, staffing, menu design, and overall leadership. He has over seven years of fine dining and hospitality experience. In his new role, he will oversee the development and creation of culinary programs.

1. What are you looking forward to in your new role as general manager at Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina?
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system has awarded The Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites Chicago Downtown/West Loop LEED Silver.
The hotel received the designation due to its high performance in sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
Meeting Professionals International, the world’s largest meeting and event industry association, has announed an organizational realignment. This includes the introduction of new leadership positions, the reconstruction of teams and their roles, and realignment of management responsibilities, to improve the company’s long-term position.
I’ve been reading Leaders Eat Last, a book about leadership by the motivational speaker Simon Sinek. His book explores, as the subtitle puts it, "why some teams pull together and others don’t." Sinek quotes a lot of biology and anthropology to support his thesis: when companies prioritize the care of human beings, and put people before numbers, they thrive.
