It’s not everyday you get the chance to log off, ditch the meetings and let loose with a can of spray paint and a blank canvas. 
Graffiti Arts, a street art, graffiti and mural agency specializing in branded art projects pairs clients with a nationwide network of local graffiti artists, giving guests a creative outlet with a variety of hands-on and team-building activities. 

“It’s definitely a unique opportunity,” says founder and graffiti artist Victor Fung. “If you think about it, even for under-the-radar graffiti artists, finding a fresh (legal) place to paint these is pretty rare. These events can really give guests a sense of freedom to have fun and get creative.”

From live event activation and custom office murals to workshops and team-building activities, Graffiti Arts works with planners to curate experiences that won’t be forgotten. Graffiti artists can put their skills on full display while working live on a canvas throughout an event or help facilitate group collaborations and team-building workshops. Group activities, which can be customized based on group size and venue space limitations, can include splitting into teams to paint custom designs, group painting of large-scale murals, which can be cleaned up by the team’s artists for clients to keep, individual painting and more. The team uses water-based spray paint and is a stickler for protection (putting venues concerned about potential mess at ease). 

“We’ve got several formats planners can choose from but there’s no need to follow a blueprint. We can work with clients to set a team mission and goal for everyone. There’s no need to box ourselves in,” says Fung. “There’s also no pressure to paint. If someone would rather help direct the layout or cut stencils, there’s plenty of ways for teams to bond and work together throughout the process.”

The agency, which has brought graffiti artists in house at top brands like Google, Epic Games and E. & J. Gallo Winery, has headquarters in New York and Los Angeles, but works with Detroit and Lansing-based graffiti artists for its Michigan events. “These events aren’t just getting teams out of their creative shells, they’re getting a chance to meet and connect with an entire culture they may not have known much about. It’s a fun, full-circle experience.”
 

Kevin Hubschmann is a New Jersey-based comedian who has been making people laugh for most of his life. But after not finding as many opportunities to perform live even before the pandemic, he started hosting popup comedy shows in New York City in 2019 under the business name Laugh.Events (pronounced Laugh Dot Events).

Last summer, as communities across the state reeled, the CVB launched the “We Need Us!” campaign as a rally cry and reminder on the importance of supporting the businesses that make Minneapolis so unique.

“It really came from this question of, ‘How can we support our community that’s hurting in so many ways and make locals feel comfortable making those choices?’” says senior vice president of destination branding & strategy Courtney Ries.
