Meet Minneapolis, Convention and Visitors Association, revealed the winners of its annual awards at the 2017 Meet Minneapolis Annual Meeting on March 2 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. More than 530 partners, elected officials and other guests attended the event. Meet Minneapolis highlighted a milestone year for hospitality in Minneapolis and unveiled the city’s first-ever tourism master plan, Destination Transformation 2030.
The Statler in downtown Dallas named Evan Danziger general manager and Jennifer Wasserman as director of sales and marketing. The boutique luxury hotel is currently undergoing a $225 million renovation and is anticipated to open in spring 2017.

Michigan’s Team Lansing Foundation, along with the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau,revealed Doug Klein, CTA, executive director of the Mason Area Chamber of Commerce, as the 2016 Greater Lansing Certified Tourism Ambassador of the Year. He received his award at the 2017 Greater Lansing CVB Annual Meeting held on Feb. 21 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing; Klein is one of more than 500 CTAs in the area.
I’ve been spending a lot of time experimenting with sea salt lately. Grilling fish with Meyer-lemon infused salt, adding a pinch of rosemary salt to pinto beans, making a vinaigrette with a smoked sea salt, sprinkling fruit or popcorn with dashes of this or that. A few weeks ago I took the Sea Salt Workshop at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Held the first Saturday of every month, at a cost of $70 per person, the workshops are led by the resort’s chefs.
Mark your calendars: The Emerging Sales Professionals Association will host its sixth professional development symposium for sales professionals of publicly owned or operated convention and meeting venues on May 3, 2017, at the Meydenbauer Convention Center in Bellevue, Wash. The symposium, called ESP6, will co-locate with the International Association of Venue Managers Region IV Conference.

Top of the Tower has officially changed their name to Sky Philadelphia. While the name’s new, their great food, friendly staff and fabulous views remain the same. They have been a private events venue for 23 years!
In March 2015, they opened Sky Brunch to the public and in June 2016, they opened Sky Garten—the only high-up open-air observation deck in the city—operated in partnership with the famed German restaurant, Brauhaus Schmitz.
The Fontainebleau Miami Beach has just revealed updates to its hotel, including a fresh design for Versailles Tower and updates to the hotel’s poolside cabanas. Jeffrey Beers International, LLC, led the Versailles Tower project while Clausen-Collaborative Interior Design worked on the cabanas.
