• Marcus Hotels & Resorts Announces New Concepts

Marcus Hotels & Resorts in Omaha has announced its new dining and bar concepts that will open in late summer: Society 1854 and Burdock + Bitters. Society 1854 will focus on regional cuisine and local flavor while Burdock + Bitters will be Omaha's newest bar and lounge.

Both concepts will be under the creative direction of executive chef Brent Hockenberry, Omaha chef Jon Seymour, and craftsman and beverage expert Granville Sharpe. Located in downtown Omaha and minutes away from many cultural attractions, the concepts will serve as a hub for downtown Omaha life.

“Society 1854 represents a timeless eatery inspired by Omaha’s charm and will offer a space for guests to enjoy popular Midwestern staples with a modern twist," says Hockenberry. "Our commitment to farm-to-table style preparations can be seen in every dish we create. We take great pride in working with local farmers, butchers, creameries and brewers to bring our guests a powerful culinary experience.”

Burdock + Bitters also has an exciting concept.

“During each visit, our bartenders will personally guide guests through Burdock + Bitters’ menu, helping them learn about all our fine cocktail and spirit offerings,”says Hockenberry. “Located in the new energetic Capitol District, Burdock + Bitters will provide an upscale and modern space for all to enjoy a drink before or after a concert, a sporting event, or just for fun. Guests and locals can also take advantage of our weekly happy hour specials and discounts.”

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. Without the daily obligation to go into the office, professionals have the ability to travel more freely. Hotels across the country are creating “work from hotel” deals–a play on “work from home”–so people can explore new places while still fitting in their 9 to 5.
