The Greater Lansing Conention and Visitors Bureau has announced the 2017 Greater Lansing Team Lansing Foundation Board of Directors:
Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events have named 2017 as the "Year of Public Art", and some of Chicago's hottest hotels will be housing living, breathing art installations. Chicago's reputation as a host of cultural and artistic inclusivity has inspired hotels to showcase art in their spaces for the rest of the year. Some of the hotels that will be hosting art pieces are the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel; The Blackstone, Autograph Collection; and Thompson Chicago.
Hilton’s Hampton by Hilton brand announced the opening of its newest property in Spicer, Minn.
The new Hampton by Hilton, Hampton Inn Spicer Green Lake, will feature 51 guest rooms.
"At Hampton Inn Spicer Green Lake guests will have everything they need to ensure a happy and memorable stay," says Nancy Larson, general manager. "We strive to offer consistent and quality accommodations with value-added amenities such as Pontoon Rentals, Boat Slips, Bicycles, Stand Up Paddleboards, Kayaks, Fire Pit, and an indoor pool."
According to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board President & CEO Ernest Wooden Jr., Los Angeles had a record 47.3 million visitors in 2016.
This is the sixth consecutive year they have broken visitation records. The new record is 1.7 million visitors higher than 2015’s total—an increase of 3.8 percent from the previous year.
Williamstown, N.J., has launched a new website to inform people—from residents to developers—about the town. The site (growwithwilliamstown.com) reflects the latest branding and logo for the suburb.
“This new website showcases the growth and prosperity of our town,” says Mayor Daniel P. Teefy. “The main navigational sections of the site outline who we are, where we are and what incentives are offered to ease the new business process here in Williamstown.”
New Jersey beaches have received much praise this year—Keansburg, N.J., is the latest town to be honored.
REALTOR Magazine—the official magazine of the National Association of Realtors—recently released their “Cheapest Beach Towns in America, list and placed Keansburg as No. 8, with a median list price for beachfront property of $140,000. The magazine looked at areas with a population of at least 1,000 to come up with their top 10 list.
