On the Rockies is the new bar, food and entertainment hub in Center Village at Copper Mountain, specializing in craft whiskeys and beers. Also new to the scene is Eagle BBQ serving up savory barbecue in a Colorado-themed atmosphere and on a snow-side patio.

After an extensive remodel, Gwyn’s High Alpine Restaurant, located on mountain at Snowmass, has expanded its capacity from 350 to 800 and added a bar complete with a large wood-burning fireplace and big-screen TVs. 

The new mountain coaster at Steamboat Springs allows guests to ride a gravity-driven sled up the mountain and slide down the rails while controlling the sled. The year-round coaster is being constructed and expected to open in summer 2017.

The Winter Park Express ski train returns, restoring passenger rail service from Denver’s Union Station to the slopes of Winter Park from Jan. 7 through March 26, 2017 on weekends and holiday Mondays.

Event planners often prepare for the worst, but one thing they likely didn’t anticipate was a global pandemic when selecting event cancellation insurance policies for their 2020 gatherings. Panicked planners began contacting Marcia McKinney, owner of Northeast Insurance Advisors, in late February and early March, but as meetings and events ground to a halt, they were already out of luck.

“It’s kind of like trying to buy homeowner’s insurance as your house is starting to catch fire... it’s too late,” says McKinney.

William Zehnder Sr. and his wife, Emilie, bought a former hotel in 1928.
