Earlier this month, Melissa Nay, formerly the membership and community outreach manager at Choose Lansing, was promoted to director of membership and community engagement. In her new position, Nay oversees all Choose Lansing membership activities, manages the Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) program, and actively participates in several community organizations that align with the organization’s mission.

With a bachelor’s degree in advertising and communication from Michigan State University, Nay brings her passion for promoting the region into every aspect of her work. “Melissa has been an integral part of our team since she joined us in 2018,” says Julie Pingston, president and CEO of Choose Lansing, in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to see her continue to work throughout the community to connect our organization to opportunities and partnerships.”

But Nay’s promotion is just one of the bureau’s recent leadership changes. At the end of October, Choose Lansing announced Cindy Holmes as its new membership and visitor services coordinator. In this expanded role, Holmes continues to lead visitor services while collaborating closely with Nay to strengthen member engagement and events.

With over a decade of experience in customer service and administration, Holmes brings a strong foundation to her expanded responsibilities. Her previous roles include serving as membership board coordinator and registrar for the Michigan Association of School Boards, as well as administrative assistant to the principal at a small private school. These experiences helped hone her ability to connect with diverse audiences and manage organizational needs efficiently.

Since starting her revamped position in October, Holmes has quickly made her mark on the membership team. “These last few months have been wonderful,” she shares. “I have really enjoyed meeting members and building relationships. I love coming to work every day and am excited about the future.”
