Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park will see the return of the world-renowned glass art from artist Dale Chihuly beginning in spring next year. The Grand Rapids cultural landmark recently announced “Chihuly at Meijer Gardens,” a major exhibition running May 1 through Nov. 1, 2026. This will be the third time the artist’s work will be displayed at the venue.

Presented by Holland-based Macatawa Bank, the exhibition will feature a mix of towering glass installations throughout Meijer Gardens’ outdoor spaces, as well as an expansive indoor gallery spanning more than 40 years of Chihuly’s artworks.

This will be his first large-scale showing at Meijer Gardens since 2010, and event professionals across the Midwest are already eyeing the timing as a unique opportunity to host amid the vibrant, world-class display.

“We are delighted to welcome Dale Chihuly back to Meijer Gardens,” says Charles Burke, president and CEO of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, in a prepared statement. “His groundbreaking art creates unforgettable connections between nature, culture, and human creativity. Guests will be captivated by the dynamic interplay between Chihuly’s spectacular art and our gardens’ natural beauty.”

In addition to Chihuly’s outdoor sculptures and iconic “Reeds” series, the indoor exhibit will feature works from his celebrated “Baskets,” “Macchia,” “Seaforms,” “Putti,” “Ikebana,” “Persians,” “Venetians,” “Cylinders,” and “Rotolo” collections, along with original drawings and design insights that trace his evolution as a contemporary glass artist.

For meeting and event planners, the exhibit adds new appeal to an already top-rated venue. Meijer Gardens offers 158 acres of event-friendly space, including indoor galleries, outdoor gardens, and a range of flexible meeting spaces.

More details will be announced in the coming months, but planners interested in leveraging the exhibition for future events are encouraged to stay in touch with the Meijer Gardens events team.
