Destination Ann Arbor recently expanded its sales team with the addition of hospitality veteran Tasha Squires, who joined the organization as business development manager in September. In her new role, Squires will focus on attracting meetings, conferences, and other events to the Ann Arbor area, representing the destination to clients across the eastern United States.
With more than 25 years of hotel and hospitality sales experience, Squires brings an expansive portfolio of relationships and results to the position. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in organizational administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant and began her career at The Westin Southfield Detroit, going on to hold key sales leadership roles at Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, Detroit Metro Airport Marriott, and The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Most recently, she spent 14 years at MGM Grand Detroit, where she served as national sales manager.
“Tasha brings a wealth of industry knowledge, strong relationships, and more than 20 years of hospitality leadership to our sales team,” says Al Snow, director of sales and service at Destination Ann Arbor, in a prepared statement. “Her proven track record of relationship-building, Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification, and national sales experience showcase her strategic drive and passion for collaboration.”
Throughout her career, Squires has been recognized for her impact on the industry. For instance, she was named Supplier of the Year by the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals of Alexandria, Virginia, in 2021 and received multiple sales performance awards from Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International.
In addition to her professional success, Squires is deeply engaged in the industry, holding the CMP designation and serving in leadership roles with several trade associations, including Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the Professional Conference Management Association (PCMA), and the Association of Meeting Professionals (AMPS).
“We are thrilled to welcome Tasha to the Destination Ann Arbor team,” Sarah Miller, president and CEO of Destination Ann Arbor, adds. “Adding a professional of her caliber to our talented team is sure to provide even more amazing opportunities for Washtenaw County.”
