Visitors arriving at the downtown Kalamazoo Radisson are being greeted with completely renovated guest rooms, updated meeting and event spaces, and a transformed lobby and social areas.
Radisson Plaza Hotel and Suites of Kalamazoo General Manager Craig Davies says the multimillion-dollar upgrade, initiated in 2020, is the first in more than 11 years. Originally built in the early 1970s, the property also underwent major improvements in 2000 after it was purchased by Greenleaf Hospitality Group.
“Our guests will enjoy and experience a more up-to-date feel and approach to their stay—updated technology used throughout the guest journey, from a custom app for mobile check-in, mobile keys, and mobile check-out as well as streaming capabilities in our guest rooms,” Davies says. “We have brought our property up to speed with what our guests expect while traveling.”

The downtown Kalamazoo Radisson’s 340 guest rooms, ranging from standard rooms to suites, have been redone with sleek minimalistic furniture and calming ambiance. Public spaces on the lower level, lobby, and second floor include areas to work, socialize, and relax while creating a harmonious flow for meeting and event attendees as well as guests.

All lower-level meeting and event spaces, including The Kalamazoo Room wedding and convention space, have been transformed with sleek and modern aesthetics. The downtown Kalamazoo Radisson can accommodate gatherings of up to 1,280 in a single space, with 50,000 square feet of flexible meeting space that can be configured into 26 meeting rooms. It has already been selected to host the 2024 Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism.
“We truly run the gamut of conventions, from statewide, regional, and national associations to anime and gaming conventions,” Davies says. “We have corporate retreats and training days, sports teams, marriage retreats, you name it.”
Other amenities include a heated indoor pool at the Kalamazoo Athletic Club, Blush Salon + Spa, and on-site restaurants including Brick + Brine. All told, Davies says, the downtown Kalamazoo Radisson offers the complete—and now updated—package.

“We truly believe that we are the heart of Kalamazoo,” he says. “The renewal of this property is just another example of not just saying that, but living it through the commitment to our culture and community. We know that in order to continue to place Kalamazoo in the minds of travelers, we have to rise up to that and provide the very best in hospitality. That is what we have done here.”
