In an effort to ramp up its low-fare service to all major U.S. metro areas, Frontier Airlines has added nonstop routes between Detroit and several U.S. cities, including Houston; Miami; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Charlotte, North Carolina—as well as nonstop service from Detroit to Cancun, Mexico.
“With new routes to Florida, Texas, North Carolina, and Mexico, and with premium offerings, including First Class seats, on the way, we are excited to show Detroit-area consumers why Frontier is ‘America’s Low-Fare Airline,’” says Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design for Frontier Airlines, in a prepared statement.
With these additions, attendees can now reach Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport from 17 cities via nonstop Frontier Airlines flights.
Added nonstop service to Detroit comes as part of Frontier’s efforts to enhance its services for budget-savvy purchasers. The airline’s offerings also now include several additional add-ons for flights. UpFront Plus seating is an upgrade option for extra leg and elbow room in the frontmost rows of the plane, plus a guaranteed empty middle seat, for traveling attendees seeking additional comfort and personal space during flights.
The airline also offers companion travel benefits for Elite Status frequent flyers, allowing its Diamond and Platinum Elite Status passengers to bring a plus-one of their choice, paying only the taxes and fees associated with their waived ticket (starting at just under $6).
In addition, starting early next year, the airline plans to debut First Class seating.
