It is no secret that loyal Detroit Lions fans are roaring their approval as the team has continued a (mostly) winning streak this season—things have been trending upward for the team since head coach Dan Campbell took over in 2021. Now, Grand Traverse Resort and Spa near Traverse City is jumping on the Lions train with the launch of a new, exclusive Touchdown Suite.
Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Communications Manager Caroline Rizzo says the property began a corporate partnership with the Detroit Lions in August and started brainstorming how they could bring the partnership to northern Michigan. “The Detroit Lions offer a unique experience for fans attending games at Ford Field and we wanted to bring that same excitement to the resort,” she says.
The result is the Touchdown Suite, a guest room on the 10th floor of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa tower with custom decor inspired by the team’s Honolulu blue and silver colors. Also part of the theme are memorabilia and artwork that pay tribute to the team’s history. “Giving guests an immersive experience with the Touchdown Suite has been an exciting project and received very positively,” Rizzo says.
Those staying in the suite will find full-size helmets, framed pictures, and officially licensed gear. The room features a king bed and views of the bay, Old Mission Peninsula, and surrounding countryside.
Other perks of staying in the Touchdown Suite at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa include complimentary game-themed snacks and Lions fan gifts. Guests also have access to amenities like three championship golf courses, a full-service spa, and several dining options.
Rizzo notes that those registering to attend a meeting at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa have the option to request a stay in the Touchdown Suite.
“There will be groups coming to the resort who book all rooms in our inventory,” she says, “so people here for business will be able to stay in the room.”
