Everything old is new again. The former Waterfront Inn conference center on the east end of Traverse City directly on East Grand Traverse Bay is being revived as an event facility called Harbor Brook Hall, accepting reservations beginning July 1.
Wuerfel Resorts, which is opening the adjacent Alexandra Inn this summer, is in the process of getting ready to open its new Harbor Brook Hall. “We have dozens of family and friends who attended or hosted memorable events there,” says Ally Wuerfel, director of operations at Wuerfel Resorts and Alexandra Inn. “Our vision is to keep those memories alive and create new ones at Harbor Brook Hall. The Harbor Brook Hall location is convenient for locals, within walking distance of dozens of hotels, and features beachfront event space, which is nearly nonexistent in the area.”
It will also operate as a sister property to the new inn, which doesn’t have extensive indoor venue options. The independent luxury boutique hotel will offer 32 rooms with a rooftop terrace and private beach, accepting reservations as of June 30, 2023.
“Our only indoor event space at the inn is a 12-person conference room, which limits our ability to offer meeting packages,” Wuerfel says. “Having Harbor Brook Hall as our sister property, we can provide lodging accommodations at Alexandra Inn and completely private indoor and outdoor space just 400 feet away.”
Because of current on-site parking limitations, Harbor Brook Hall’s capacity will initially be limited to 94. While the original commercial kitchen had been removed, the hall will adjust the previous kitchen space to offer a staging area for local caterers when events include food offerings. The original lakeside deck remains and will also be available to groups. “We are excited about the synergy between the two properties and look forward to being able to provide both lodging and meeting space,” Wuerfel adds.
