Moe Moua, senior destination services manager at Visit Detroit, was recognized as Event Service Professional of the Year at the Event Services Professionals Association (ESPA) 2026 Annual Conference, held at the Loews Arlington Hotel in Arlington, Texas, from Jan. 25-27. Visit Detroit celebrates Moua’s professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to excellence that contributes meaningfully to each event she oversees and strengthens the organization’s reputation. She received nominations from three separate meeting planners.
“Receiving this award means more to me than I can easily express,” Moua says. “It’s especially humbling because our work in event services often occurs behind the scenes. Being recognized by a community of peers who truly appreciate the effort, coordination, and passion involved in each event is profoundly meaningful.”
Moua’s profession requires her to build relationships, earning trust and providing support for the people she works with during crucial moments, and she says receiving the award reinforces her love for the industry. She feels inspired by her colleagues, partners, and clients, and sees the award as an extension of—and belonging to—everyone she works with. “What I cherish most about this role is the chance to unite people and highlight the amazing community we have in Detroit,” Moua adds.
“One thing that has always guided my work is ensuring that when clients visit our city, they experience not only a fantastic event but also the people and businesses that make Detroit unique,” Moua says. She is driven to connect planners with local vendors, makers, and community partners, and when assisting planners, she is thinking about how to create opportunities that support the success of all involved parties. “When our local businesses thrive, it supports families and strengthens our community, and that’s something I care about deeply,” Moua says.
“Moe’s exemplary behavior and strong commitment to providing exceptional service consistently reflect Visit Detroit’s high standards,” says Harriet Carter, senior vice president of services, partnerships, and events at Visit Detroit, in a prepared statement. “We are thrilled that she has been widely acknowledged as a leader in her field.”
