Kalamazoo’s Old Burdick’s Bar & Grill, the first-floor restaurant at the downtown Radisson Plaza Hotel at Kalamazoo Center, will close for major renovations on Dec. 21. When Old Burdick’s reopens in fall next year, it will have a modernized look, reimagined menu, and new amenities including more functional spaces for groups and events.
Greenleaf Hospitality Group properties in Kalamazoo include the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Old Burdick’s, Wings Event Center, Wings West, and the Kalamazoo Country Club. Greenleaf recently completed a significant renovation of the Radisson Plaza Hotel. The multimillion dollar upgrade included completely renovated guest rooms along with updated meeting and event spaces, lobby, and social areas.
Tim Rayman, Greenleaf Hospitality Group CEO, says it was a logical progression to then redo Old Burdick’s. “Following the Radisson renovation, we evaluated which of our spaces, if updated, would have the potential to impact the guest experience the most in coming years,” he says. “Old Burdick’s was the natural choice. The refreshed Old Burdick’s restaurant and brand will add another level of vibrancy for groups and transient guests to enjoy at the Radisson.”
Plans for Old Burdick’s include an expanded dining area to accommodate more guests and events. Two private dining rooms for gatherings are also part of the project. A novel new feature will be the addition of four lanes of duckpin bowling.
“With our expanded dining area and two fully private dining rooms, we’ll be able to host a broader range of group sizes and event types than ever before,” Rayman says. “The private dining rooms are designed to accommodate groups of approximately 20 and 50 guests.”
“We’re thrilled to reimagine Old Burdick’s downtown and create the place to be for everyone—from the casual diner to the avid sports fan,” says Greenleaf Hospitality Group Executive Director of Food and Beverage Ryan Cunningham, in a prepared statement. “It’s all about enhancing the experience.”
