Renovations Take Saint John’s Resort to Next Level

By Kathy Gibbons

The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth changes its name to Saint John’s Resort in August.

It’s part of a rebranding with multiple enhancements that Director of Sales and Marketing Fadi Sibani says make it a true Detroit destination resort.

Formerly owned by the Archdiocese of Detroit as St. John’s Provincial Seminary from 1948 to 1988, the property was transformed in the 1990s as a center for youth and families before it was redeveloped into a hotel and conference center in the 2000s.

The archdiocese sold the property to the Pulte family in 2021, which led to its current transformation, Sibani explains.

“That includes a renovation of the historic seminary, which has not been used in 10-plus years, to build a one-of-a-kind indoor/outdoor ballroom space for up to 2,000 people as well as the development of a 6,200-square-foot outdoor garden pavilion that highlights the property’s natural beauty,” he says. “We are also freshening existing interior spaces to draw out their architectural and historic beauty.”

The resort is also transforming its municipal-quality golf course into a Championship 18-hole, a Par 3 course with replicas of famous greens from around the world, and a 1.5-acre natural bent grass putting course.

The new 15,000-square-foot Monarch Ballroom boasts a 200-foot glass wall that overlooks a spacious courtyard with casual seating, three skylights, nine large crystal chandeliers, and a sky wall that separates the room into two sections. It also has an additional 13,000 square feet of event space spanning three floors, making it suited to accommodating big weddings, galas, concerts, and large corporate events.

The Garden Pavilion features nano glass walls that open up and overlook the golf course. With heated floors and cathedral cedar ceilings, the event space will host wedding ceremonies on weekends and golf outings, corporate receptions, and special occasions at other times.

The resort offers 118 hotel rooms along with lavish gardens for outdoor events.
