Michigan Scores Top Spot for Social Media Engagement

By M+E Staff

“Start spreading the news,” Frank Sinatra croons in his signature song about New York. In truth, when it comes to spreading news about a U.S. destination, it’s Michigan that lands on top. As David Lorenz, vice president of Travel Michigan, noted in his end-of-year-letter, Shareablee, a leading provider of social media performance data, recognized Pure Michigan as the number-one tourism bureau in the country for social media engagement in its November Top U.S. Tourism Boards on Social report. “Thanks to our travel partners statewide who helped us tell the Pure Michigan story to our worldwide audience of nearly 3 million, making recognition like this possible,” Lorenz wrote. It helps when a state has a great story to tell.
