Grand Traverse Resort and Spa welcomes Ryan Buck as director of sales. Buck will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the resort’s group sales team, including revenue management, travel, trade shows and budgeting. Buck was formerly the complex director of group sales at Chicago’s W Hotels. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University.
Pointes North Beachfront Resort Hotel’s Shirley Allison received the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association’s Guest Relations Star of the Year award for 2014. The award is given based on programs that create goodwill, provide special services, reverse negative public relation situations or effectively solve guest complaints.
Shirley treats her guests just as the fines concierges would, and her guests deluge her with personal notes and emails and thank her for the wonderful memories she helps to create,” said Dustin Karpovich, assistant general manager at Pointes North. “She’s an outstanding ambassador for Pointes North.”
Additionally, Phil’s on Front announced a new chef, Fresia Granados, to the culinary team. Granados joins chef and owner Phil Murray, to create authentic Costa Rican lunch cuisine. Granados joined Phil’s on Front from teaching at Northwestern Michigan College’s Great Lakes Culinary Institute.
