Traverse City is bringing this year’s annual Traverse City Trail Running Festival to the woods. The two-day series of off-road foot races will be held April 11-12 through the wilds of the Pere Marquette State Forest.
“The idea is to get off the pavement and onto some nice single-tracks with some trees around you, to be running that beautiful forest instead of sucking auto exhaust at the side of the road,” said the race organizer, Joel Gaff.
This year’s festival will feature races of several different lengths on a variety of single-track and two-track trails. The event will kick off on the evening of Friday, April 11 with a two-person 10k relay, in which each runner in a pair will run five kilometers. Individual races of 10k, 25k and 50k will continue on Saturday morning.
