A new player has entered Ann Arbor’s hospitality landscape with the official opening of The Vanguard Ann Arbor, Autograph Collection. Developed by Robert Finvarb Cos. based in Aventura, Florida, and Milford Singer & Co. of West Bloomfield, the property offers a fresh high-end destination for business travelers, meeting planners, and corporate groups seeking more than just a place to stay.

“Over the past two decades, I’ve had the privilege of developing hotels in some of the most dynamic cities in the country,” says Robert Finvarb, founder of Robert Finvarb Cos., in a prepared statement. “With The Vanguard Ann Arbor, we saw an opportunity to create something truly special—an upscale, yet welcoming destination that embodies the intellectual energy and vibrant culture of Ann Arbor.”

Located just steps from the University of Michigan campus, the hotel pays homage to Ann Arbor’s academic heritage while delivering the modern amenities today’s travelers expect. With 188 guest rooms (including 24 one-bedroom suites) and a comprehensive range of upscale offerings for guests, the hotel positions itself as a standout option in the regional meetings and events market.

In fact, the property boasts 11,062 square feet of flexible meeting and event space across five rooms, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of downtown Ann Arbor. Designed to support everything from university conferences to corporate retreats, the venue also includes full-service planning support and customizable menus crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, the property’s in-house restaurant, La Serre, offers private dining options for smaller gatherings. The signature brasserie is open for all-day dining and features a seasonally driven menu with French-inspired offerings.

Jason Nelson, general manager of The Vanguard, expresses his excitement for the hotel’s future, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome guests into an environment that is both refined and approachable, where every detail has been designed to enhance their experience and connection to the city.”
