Switzerland-based Viking River Cruises’ 386-passenger Viking Mississippi set sail from St. Paul to St. Louis, Missouri, last September. On its maiden voyage, the ship stopped in Red Wing, Minnesota; La Crosse, Wisconsin; Dubuque, Davenport, and Burlington, Iowa; and Hannibal, Missouri, before reaching the Gateway to the West. This is Viking River Cruises’ first foray on an American river.
At a minimum of $4,499 per person, groups will need deep pockets to consider the seven-day voyage. The fare includes complimentary shore excursions; a queen-size bed; beer, wine, and cocktails with meals; and ground transfers with airline tickets purchased through Viking. The Viking Mississippi will sail again this August.
