Hotel Ivy, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Minneapolis, debuted a restaurant/bar and a cigar lounge as part of the completion of its multimillion-dollar renovations. Bar Edera, opened in mid-July adjacent to the hotel lobby, is a stylish new concept that evokes Europe’s all-day bar culture. Starting with breakfast and coffee in the morning through craft cocktails, bar snacks, and casual dinner in the evening, Bar Edera is a convivial social hub for hotel and neighborhood guests alike. Thor Cigar Lounge, an elevated patio experience for cigar and cocktail enthusiasts, opened in late September.
“Bar Edera and Thor Cigar Lounge bring a new level of energy and elegance to Hotel Ivy,” says Mark Maggiotto, general manager of Hotel Ivy in a prepared statement. “We’re thrilled to share these new experiences with Minneapolitans and our guests and delight them with two new places to gather and celebrate.”
New American breakfast items include a Smoked Salmon Tartine with herb goat cheese, pickled shallot, caper, and chives, and Skirt Steak & Eggs served with potatoes and chimichurri. Lunch items will include a selection of starters, salads, pastas, and mains. Guests can look forward to Turkey and Bacon on Brioche; Walleye Po’ Boy on Baguette; Shrimp Linguini scampi-style with toasted chili breadcrumbs, lemon, and garlic; and more. Standout items from the bar menu include favorites such as Ahi Tuna Crudo, Smoked Walleye Dip, Edera Burger, and Steak Frites, along with snacks such as Smoked Paprika Almonds and Housemade Potato Chips.
The craft cocktail menu leans on the classics with a standout Negroni, Manhattan, and Espresso Martini. The Martini ‘My Way’ provides guests with a customizable drink, offering a choice of spirit, preparation, garnish, and mix. A thoughtful selection of wines by the glass and beers are also available.
The social space, designed by Whitespace Interiors, has rich parquet floors, distressed leather, and natural brass accents that create a timeless and approachable aesthetic. Residential moldings and soft lighting create a welcoming vibe, complemented by carefully curated artwork from a diverse group of artists. The design offers an authentic and refined mood layered with sophistication. Two large-screen 65-inch TVs are within guests’ view, primarily airing sports games.
Hotel Ivy’s Thor Cigar Lounge is adjacent to Bar Edera. This refined outdoor escape offers a stylish retreat. The open-air lounge features plush seating, glowing fire pits, and intimate cocktail tables. Premium cigars include a selection of rare limited releases and vintage collections, displayed in large glass-doored humidors crafted from rich wood. High-end accessories and branded merchandise are available for purchase. Thor’s refined aesthetic and relaxed atmosphere make it the ideal place to unwind with a cigar and cocktail while taking in views of downtown Minneapolis.
This final phase of Hotel Ivy’s renovation also includes newly designed suites and an updated lobby. Like the rest of the guest rooms, the suites are also lighter and brighter with refreshed furniture, nature-inspired artwork and elegant bar carts. The spacious, iconic penthouse suite radiates opulence with its soft palette and carefully designed seating and entertaining areas. Updated artwork and accessories enrich every corner with understated sophistication. The reception lobby has been revamped to provide guests with a luxurious and elevated arrival experience. Among the visually stunning design elements includes updated furniture and many flora-inspired pendant lights that double as functional artwork. Curated artwork that celebrates the hotel’s deep connection to the vibrant culture of Minneapolis has been displayed with care throughout the space. A revamped retail display offering regionally sourced upscale goods for purchase is also forthcoming.
Hotel Ivy’s renovation began with the hotel’s new restaurants, Breva Bar & Grill and Masa & Agave, which both opened in 2023. Last summer, the guest rooms and the meeting and event spaces were transformed. With the completion of these renovations, Hotel Ivy reaffirms its place as a premier destination for luxury travelers in the heart of Minneapolis. Every detail reflects the hotel’s commitment to elevated hospitality as it welcomes guests to experience this iconic property in a new light.
