The 2015 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) has returned for another year. Plungers will jump to fundraise Special Olympics Minnesota. This will benefit over 8,000 SOMN athletes as they compete with other communities. This two-day event will take place at Thomas Beach, Lake Calhoun, Thomas Avenue S and West Calhoun Parkway in Minneapolis starting at 5 p.m
The Minneapolis Polar Bear Plunge Executive Challenge is an event where statewide professionals plunge into Lake Calhoun on March 6th to support Special Olympics Minnesota. For eligibility, executives must raise $10,000 minimum through pledges, a corporate gift, an individual contribution or a special event.
For everyone else who wants to plunge, registration is currently open for the 2015 Minneapolis Polar Plunge. Day two starts at 11 a.m. on March 7th. The Pee Wee Plunge also will take place on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for children 10 and under. These kids will use a sheltered pool. Participants also may wear costumes!
“Too Chicken to Plunge” also is available for those not wanting to get wet, which also may be completed during registration. “Chickens” still raise donations and can be part of a Plunge team, but sit out in the chicken coop when the time comes to actually take the plunge. Raise $75 and earn a “I was Too Chicken to Plunge!” shirt.
Registration is $30 and is available online through March 6, 2015 here.
