A Very Special Brand of Twin Cities Hospitality

By Amanda Christensen

An homage to fine Midwestern fare, the Lake Elmo Inn Restaurant has served the eastern Twin Cities metro area for 39 years. Located off Stillwater Boulevard North 20 miles east of St. Paul in Lake Elmo, the restaurant offers menu items such as their renowned 1881 Hereford Brand of Beef and Roasted Duckling.

“I believe the food at Lake Elmo Inn [Restaurant] … is some of the best in the Midwest,” says John Schiltz, co-owner and chef of the restaurant. “Our standards are very high, and it is what our customers expect. It keeps them coming back.”

The restaurant also features a variety of dining spaces, including an affable and welcoming bar; the Veranda, an outdoor patio surrounded by flowers with retractable floor-to-ceiling windows; and the Plaza, which offers additional outdoor dining. These rooms can be reserved for groups of 20 people or more, and reservations can be made via phone or email.

Schiltz, and his partner and wife, Christine Schiltz, also oversee the Lake Elmo Event Center, a 3,200-square-foot venue with banquet space for up to 300. Cuisine from the Lake Elmo Inn Restaurant is served at events, and complimentary event coordinating services are available.

“Our [nearly] 40 years of experience in special-occasion dining allows us to bring you our very special brand of Twin Cities hospitality at our event center,” Schiltz says.
