Morrissey Hospitality to Manage Five Restaurants

By Todd R. Berger

Morrissey Hospitality, a second-generation, family-owned hospitality management company based in St. Paul, added five restaurants to its operations management portfolio. The restaurants include Admiral D’s Waterfront Tavern in White Bear Lake, the Freight House in Stillwater, New Bohemia locations in St. Paul and Plymouth, and Seventh Street Truck Park in St. Paul. Over the past three years, the number of properties Morrissey Hospitality manages has tripled in size.

“What is great about these properties is that the current owner-clients have been established operators themselves for many years,” says Elizabeth Morrissey Brown, vice president of business development and marketing at Morrissey Hospitality. “So, it wasn’t that the businesses were in crisis. They are not—they are healthy, thriving. It was just other needs and goals that the owners had that fit within the services Morrissey Hospitality offers to help them achieve those needs and goals.”

For meetings and events, specifically, Morrissey Hospitality’s management properties have many options, including small private dining rooms, semi-private dining rooms, patios and decks, traditional meeting spaces, ballrooms, conference rooms, full-size event centers, and amphitheaters. Brown adds, “I’m really proud of the diversity of our offerings when it comes to meetings and events.”

All five of the newly managed restaurants are available for events, including full buyouts. Admiral D’s Waterfront Tavern has a 65-foot yacht, Admiral, that you can reserve and then set sail on White Bear Lake. The Freight House is a family- and dog-friendly property that has a large patio with sweeping views of the St. Croix River in the heart of downtown Stillwater.

“When we are hired as a professional hospitality management company, it’s coming in with the owner to [handle various duties], from consulting to light management to full-on management, depending on the desires of the owner,” Morrissey Brown says. “We are their hospitality management partner. All our businesses are unique, independent brands.”
