Only in Minnesota

By M+E Staff

Explore Minnesota recently launched a new tourism campaign titled, “Only in Minnesota” to showcase activities visitors can do only in our state. The campaign, which was developed by Colle+McVoy, is the state’s largest-ever marketing stint and aims to lure tourists to Minnesota while also encouraging Minnesotans to staycation (vacation in their own state).

“Only in Minnesota” includes ads on television, outdoors and digital platforms, as well as a stronger social media presence. Users can interact with the campaign using the hashtag #OnlyinMN on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Additionally, Explore Minnesota has launched an easier-to-use website that features vivid images and a live-chat function that allows users to ask questions about Minnesota destinations and receive real-time answers.

Research done by the state’s tourism officials proves that travelers want to experience something new when they travel, which is why this theme was created. The campaign showcases Minnesota’s outdoor adventures, cultural amenities, and iconic landmarks.

This campaign got me thinking about all the unique opportunities and experiences Minnesota offers, especially for the meetings and events industry. From outdoor activities like snowshoeing or meeting on a cruise boat, to indoor fun at places like the American Swedish Institute or the Red Wing Shoe Museum, this state presents a wealth of great venues and activities.

Here, you can watch the “Only in Minnesota” TV commercials and explore Minnesota right from your desk. We’d also love to hear about your favorite experiences and places found “Only in Minnesota.” Comment below!
