Saint Paul RiverCentre celebrates its 25th anniversary this year by honoring, in particular, its wide-ranging sustainability standards by planting a tree for each room booked for events during 2023. RiverCentre’s sustainability certifications include LEED-Platinum, Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes, and Events Industry Council Gold certifications. Also, 100% of the energy used by events is powered by Xcel Energy’s Windsource program, providing power from renewable sources. With 250,000 square feet of space and three distinct venues in RiverCentre, Roy Wilkins Auditorium, and Xcel Energy Center all under one roof, the complex can accommodate up to 15,000 people within its green bona fides. “No two rooms are ever set up the same [or] look the same, so it can accommodate many different events, which is what we love,” says Kate Setley, executive director and general manager of Saint Paul RiverCentre. “There’s no shortage of variety here.”
But it’s not just the green measures and the flexible spaces that keep groups coming back to RiverCentre. Setley adds, “We hear over and over and over about what’s unique about us … [and] it’s really the level of service that happens here.” Setley says that client survey respondents routinely choose the professionalism of the staff as RiverCentre’s most distinctive feature. “We take a ton of pride in that,” she notes.
