Meet Todd Pinzuti, Bungalow 6 Design

By Erica Rivera

FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS, Todd Pinzuti of Bungalow 6 Design has been infusing weddings and events with class, style and glamour.

“Setting the stage for the guest is crucial,”says Pinzuti. “Successful events completely hinge on having the best vendor pool you can pull together within your budget.”

The Wisconsin native cut his teeth at a local event company. After eight months as an employee, he went freelance, using his keen eye for photo styling, merchandising and event services. One gig led to another, allowing Pinzuti to realize he could be the most successful by focusing on all aspects of events. Thus, Bungalow 6 Design was born. Now, Pinzuti is known for some of the biggest-and boldest-soirees on the Twin Cities scene, including Avant Garden at the Walker Art Center and Symphony Ball at Orchestra Hall. Pinzuti has also curated fetes for majorcor porations like Target, J.C. Penney and ING Financial Services.

“It’s a miracle,” Pinzuti says of juggling so many commitments. “I’m a one-man show; I wear all the hats.”

The secret to Bungalow 6 Design’s success is its small size. Pinzuti prefers contract workers with specialized skills rather than a fulltime, salaried staff. This allows him to pay contractors generously and meshes better with the feast-or-famine seasons of event planning.

“We show growth every single year,” Pinzuti says of the business. “We’ve never had a downturn.”

From lighting to flowers to linens, Pinzuti ensures all the pieces come together to create a truly stunning affair. “You don’t have to spend gobs of money to make an event fantastic,” Pinzuti says. “You need amazing visuals, amazing food and beverage and a well-oiled production team.”

Pinzuti’s ideal client brings him the broad strokes of an event concept, then lets him run wild with the details. “It’s not always fun to go into an environment and you’re just taking orders,” he says. “As a creative person, I want to be able to bring my creative ability to the table.”
