Take Team Building on the Road

By M+E Staff

The M+E team recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas for the IMEX America Conference. If you’re familiar with Tiger Oak Media, you know that as a company we are no strangers to team building activities. We have pumpkin carving contests on Halloween, holiday happy hours throughout the month of December, and pizza parties to celebrate our interns.

This was, however, the first time we’ve taken our teambuilding on the road. The M+E team spent four days together wandering around Vegas and roaming the IMEX trade show floor. We ate pretzels in Munich, cast spells with Harry Potter’s wand in London, sampled scotch in Scotland, and cheered on the World Cup winners in Germany. We sipped coffee from Columbia, wore friendship bracelets from Guatemala, got lost in Montana and enjoyed happy hour in Denver.

Travelling with coworkers really takes bonding to a whole new level. You learn who gets nauseous on airplanes, who doesn’t know how to use chopsticks and what Pandora stations people listen to when they need an energy boost. Interacting with your coworkers outside of the office allows everyone to feel a little bit more comfortable and show a little bit more personality; it allows you to cross the business-etiquette border and learn what really makes your fellow team members tick.

Any form of team building is a fantastic way to open the channels of communication between team members, provides a great opportunity to bond as a team and allows your group to work together better than before. So if you have the chance to ramp up your experience and take the teambuilding on the road, we highly recommend it!
