The International Live Events Association (ILEA) presented the 2021 ILEA Esprit Awards during a virtual program last summer, and Minneapolis-based Hana April Inc. received Best Corporate Event (Over $100,000) for creating the Surescripts Winter Gala. The annual awards program recognizes excellence in events of varying types, sizes, and budgets and honors creativity and innovation in event design, production and execution.
Overview
The Surescripts team wanted a completely innovative Winter Wonderland for the company’s annual gala for approximately 500 guests. The vision was creating a cozy, warm and intimate experience that inspired guests to feel as if they were strolling through a winter paradise.
Highlights
- Custom fabricated outdoor igloo with a fire pit that was the focus of the outside area.
- Ceiling installation in the ballroom with hundreds of LED balloons in various sizes to give the effect of snowflakes.
- Cozy seating, more than 25 live trees, a 12-foot lighted ice bar, a wall of champagne flutes, and treeline gobos.
- A birchwood backdrop with a sleigh for photo opportunities.
- Food tastings galore including a mashed potato bar, carving station, custom macaroni and cheese bar, live bananas foster flambé station, gourmet s’mores station and more.
- A 10-piece cover band for entertainment and dancing.
- A wine-toss game to win bottles of wine more than 25 surprise prizes given out throughout the evening.
