Mall of America announced the triumphant return of Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel to the Bloomington mall. Twiggy’s performances will take place at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. on June 7, 8, and 9, with a meet and greet following each performance in the mall’s Huntington Bank Rotunda.
Twiggy’s story is nothing short of extraordinary. She was blown from her nest during a hurricane in Florida in 1978. Fortunately, she was rescued by the compassionate Chuck and Lou Ann Best. What began as a playful experiment—teaching a rescued squirrel to water ski—soon transformed into an awe-inspiring act that captivated audiences worldwide. The current Twiggy is officially Twiggy VIII.
While Twiggy’s performances are undeniably entertaining, they also serve an essential purpose. Through her waterskiing antics, Twiggy emphasizes the importance of water safety and the significance of wearing a life jacket, as she wears a squirrel-sized life jacket for every performance. It’s a fun and educational experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.
