There are few things more exciting for a motorcycle enthusiast than winning a new Harley-Davidson, especially when Bill Davidson—former senior vice president and chief styling officer of the infamous motorcycle compny— is the one handing over the keys. Such was the case for one lucky raffle winner at the annual convention of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) in Austin.

The convention was held from Jan.uary 8–-11 this year, drawing in thousands of convention and meetings planners, as well asand representatives of destination marketing organizations. VISIT Visit Milwaukee came up with the idea of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle raffle for PCMA Foundation’s annual fundraising efforeffort held in conjunction with the tconvention. The foundation supports professional development through scholarship grants, educational programs and research for innovation in the meetings industry innovation.

“We were happy to play a big part in this annual fund drive, which has brought in more than $40,000 to the PCMA Foundation, one of the highest grossing results in recent years,” saysid Paul Upchurch, president and& CEO, of VisitISIT Milwaukee. “Our thanks go out to our local partner, Bill Davidson, for his willingness to help us in this effort.”

Bill Davidson, great-grandson of one of the co-founders of Harley-Davidson, is also the current vVice pPresident of the Harley-Davidson museum in Milwaukee. As the only one of its kind, the museum has been drawing Harley-Davidson fans to its doors since it opened in 2008. The museum, which opened in 2008, has also becomeis also a popular off-site meetings and reception venue with indoor and outdoor space for gatherings of 10– to 10,000 people.

VisitISIT Milwaukee invited raffle winner Valerie Sumner, principle, VRS Meetings and Events, Inc., to take the brand-new H-D FLHX Street Glide motorcycle home to Milwaukee with her meeting business

It’s always good to have market data for a glimpse at what’s happening in the meetings and events industry and know there are credentials for professionals to work toward. The Events Industry Council (EIC) has released its 2022 Q1 Global Business Events Barometer earlier this week and announced its inaugural class of CMP Fellows this spring.

Event planners often schedule meetings and events in natural places near wilderness areas, at waterfront resorts, and at mountain event spaces. But there are many ways to bring nature into your events by making use of the architectural concept of biophilic design, which can be defined as seeking to engage most people’s innate desires to affiliate with nature in the modern built environment. If you think of yourself as an “event architect,” you can use nature to stimulate the senses.

It won’t be quite the same as ordering a pizza or nachos to be delivered to your front door but getting eats at venues is taking a leap toward convenience with a new collaboration: DoorDash has become ASM Global’s “On-Demand Delivery Platform” partner, launching at ASM Global’s top North American arenas, stadiums, theaters, and convention centers in the coming months. The partnership will allow attendees to skip traditional lines by leveraging DoorDash services to order within the arena for pickup.
