Fairmont’s Lofty Venue & Elevated Commitment to Kids

By M+E Staff

Groups can reach new heights while gathering at The Roof located on the 15th floor of Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and taking part in the new global program Wishes Start Here recently launched by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Make-A-Wish

The Roof

Located under Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s distinct green copper roof, The Roof was recently renovated and is the sole event space on the 15th floor, covering 5,200 square feet and offering privacy and exclusivity for groups of up to 200 seated and 300 reception-style. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide spectacular views of the city, North Shore Mountains, and ocean. Originally opened in 1939 as the Panorama Roof, the venue was frequented by celebrities and hosted performances by the famous jazz musician Dal Richards and his 11-piece band.

Wishes Start Here

This new program is dedicated to making a critically ill child’s most cherished dream a reality. Over the next three years, Fairmont is committed to making more than 500 children’s wishes come true, while donating more than $1 million in charitable support.

The company and Make-A-Wish have worked together at multiple locations across the United States, Middle East, Canada, and Europe for nearly two decades. In recent years, one of the most popular wishes by Make-A-Wish children is for a playhouse, and Fairmont set out to create The Ultimate Kids’ Playhouse designed entirely by kids, for kids. As a result, Wishes Start Here officially kicked off with a family celebration and launch of The Ultimate Kids’ Playhouse at San Diego’s Fairmont Grand Del Mar last summer.

The Ultimate Kids’ Playhouse is moving on to other Fairmont locations, and the company will hold several fundraising events at hotels around the world to offer groups and guests the opportunity to help support Make-A-Wish. Fairmont has more than 80 hotels, including properties in U.S. Mountain West communities such as Telluride, Scottsdale, and Seattle and western Canada mountain towns like Banff, Calgary, Lake Louise, Jasper, Victoria and Whistler.
