There are two new properties for groups to get excited about in Montana and Utah. The Wren in Missoula, slated to open late this summer, is located in a 1960s-era building being transformed into a locally inspired boutique hotel. The larger Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City is a new-build that will bring 700 additional guest rooms to the city starting this fall.
The Wren
Located in the heart of downtown Missoula and operated by Columbia Hospitality, The Wren is the third property owned, designed, and repurposed by a Bozeman, Montana-based group, which opened The LARK in Bozeman in 2015 and The FINCH in Walla Walla, Washington, in 2019. The group’s ethos is to breathe new life into unused downtown buildings, and all three hotels are inspired by their surroundings.
The Wren features 73 guest rooms, an airy interior courtyard, custom artwork designed by Montana artists, and 500 square feet of gathering space, including a tech-ready collaborative working room. The lobby, known as the Map Room, will feature local information, staff members known as “guides” to provide local recommendations, and revolving exhibitions from the Missoula Art Museum. A café operated by Black Coffee Roasters, a local and sustainable coffee shop, and Revolvr Menswear, a Montana-based men’s clothing retailer, also are preparing to open on the main floor.
Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City
Located adjacent to the Salt Palace Convention Center downtown, the 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City features 60,000 square feet of meeting space and a broadcast lounge and is primed to host large-scale meetings and events.
The property will feature four distinct dining venues: ia grab-and-go market, Contribution bar and lounge, The Salt Republic restaurant, and Mar | Muntanya rooftop restaurant. Additional highlights include the largest rooftop terrace in the city, complete with a pool, cabanas, and views of the surrounding mountains.
