Discover Scents & Suds on Two Oregon Trails

By M+E Staff

Seven family-run farms in the Applegate Valley offer a multisensory experience on the Southern Oregon Lavender Trail, open to visitors in July and August when the lavender is in full bloom. Not only are there great views of the Siskiyou Mountains along the way, the farms offer u-pick flowers and potted plants as well tasty treats, handcrafted lavender products, a variety of crafts and distilled DIY essential oils.

Eugene Ale Trail features 11 of the region’s best craft breweries, bottle shops and tap houses, including Ninkasi, Hop Valley, Oakshire, Falling Sky, Sam Bond’s Brewers Union Local 180, Steelhead, McMenamins, Plank Town, Claim 52 and Agrarian Ales, many using local ingredients and ultra-pure water sourced from the McKenzie River. Make it extra fun for a group by visiting at least eight of the 10 Eugene-area breweries and having a trail passport stamped at each to receive a 16-oz. amber growler. A side trip 44 miles east on Highway 58 to Oakridge’s Brewers Union Local 180 nets suds-lovers a stainless steel pint cup.
