Beautiful Spaces & Winter Feast at Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

By M+E Staff

Groups and individual travelers can spend Friday evenings in Whistler with the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) Spo7ez Performance Team throughout the winter. Experience a culinary journey that blends traditional ingredients with modern plates while SLCC’s cultural ambassadors dressed in regalia share songs and stories from Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation. To learn more about these two distinct cultures, visit the Great Hall and exhibits and watch a 15-minute film to delve deeper into their stories, shared territories and heritage.

The centre is located on the shared traditional territories of the Squamish and Lil’wat First Nations in Whistler’s Upper Village and has three distinct event spaces with outstanding views available for rent.

Great Hall on the main level accommodates up to 300 for a reception or 150 for a sit-down dinner. Weavings, canoes, carvings and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Lost Lake and Garibaldi Mountain Ranges are sure to impress guests. Great Hall rental includes the 78-seat Theatre.

The 5,000-square-foot Mezzanine Patio has 2,500 square feet of retractable awnings, and a fire pit provides ambiance for after-dinner drinks and storytelling as well as pre-event conversation.

Istken Hall is a round room with wraparound windows that can be used in combination with the neighboring cafe/lounge space. Istken Hall, Longhouse and the Theatre work well for meetings by provide inspiring space for collaboration and creativity.

Turn any occasion at Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre into something really meaningful with cultural enhancements like performances, an indigenous-inspired feast through the in-house catering team, and workshops where attendees learn how to make dreamcatchers, wool woven pouches, small drums, cedar paddle rattles or beaded earrings.
