Apple AirPlay integration is coming to IHG Hotels & Resorts, which will give guests the ability to seamlessly and securely share content from their iPhone or iPad to their guest room TV. AirPlay will begin to roll out in select IHG hotels globally before the end of this year.
Once AirPlay is available in IHG hotel rooms, guests will simply scan a QR code unique to the TV in their room to easily enjoy a personalized entertainment experience on the TV. Built with a foundation of privacy and security, AirPlay allows guests to stream, control, and share videos, photos, music, and more from their iPhone or iPad to the big screen, so they can watch popular streaming services, rehearse presentations, enjoy vacation photos, and more, in the comfort of their hotel room.
“Working together with Apple to introduce AirPlay to our IHG Studio platform later this year marks another significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to enhance the guest experience,” says George Turner, chief commercial and technology officer, IHG Hotels & Resorts, in a prepared statement. “This technology will provide seamless connectivity and personalized entertainment options. Whether traveling for business or leisure, our guests [will soon be able to] enjoy the convenience of streaming directly from their iPhone or iPad to our in-room technology, creating a home-away-from-home environment like never before.”
IHG Studio, launched in 2019, offers a comprehensive range of in-room entertainment, communication, and streaming functionalities. By incorporating AirPlay into the IHG Studio ecosystem, IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to lead the industry in delivering exceptional guest experiences that seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technology. The collaboration between Apple and IHG exemplifies IHG’s dedication to innovation and surpassing guest expectations, ensuring a stay that is not only comfortable but also easily connected to guests’ preferred devices.
