This year marks the 30th anniversary of San Diego Museum Month. Continuing a tradition that began in 1989, visitors can enjoy half-priced admission to more than 40 museums in San Diego during the month of February.
Adding to the festivities in 2019, Hilton is joining San Diego Museum Council to offer a “Museum Month Package” at 29 properties across San Diego County. Guests who book the “Experience the City” package will receive a Museum Month pass at check in, which will allow guests to bring up to three additional people to participating museum and receive a 50 percent discount on admission for all.
California Meetings + Events was invited to enjoy a preview of museum month, with a stay at the Hilton San Diego Property, a Four Diamond property that is a three-peat winner of the publication’s “Best of” Awards in the category “Best Downtown Meeting Venue Outside Conference or Convention Center.”
On day one, we were treated to tours of a trio of cultural institutions at Balboa Park: San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Museum of Art and the Japanese Friendship Garden. Later that evening, there was a visit to the—possibly haunted—Whaley House Museum in Old Town, and the next day an immersive tour of the USS Midway Museum, the longest serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Last summer the USS Midway was the setting for a company-wide gathering of Hilton general managers, with the rock group Train performing on the flight deck.
That’s only a single example of how Hilton properties and San Diego’s museums can collaborate to create rich meeting experiences. And while museum month lasts only a month, these experiences can be arranged year round.
If you do have a chance to visit San Diego in February, it’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some of the city’s many cultural gems while checking out a few standout local Hilton properties. Visit this Meetings + Events Guide to San Diego to learn about Hilton’s more than 6,700 guest rooms and nearly 300,000 square feet of function and meeting in San Diego.
