Great Place to Work and People magazine named Marriott International as one of the 2024 People “Companies that Care,” marking its fifth consecutive year on the list and its highest placement to date as No. 4 this year. The accolade recognizes Marriott’s focus on its sustainability and social impact platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction.
“It is an honor to be consistently included in the People ‘Companies that Care’ list,” says Anthony Capuano, president and CEO at Marriott International, in a prepared statement. “This recognition is a testament to the strength of our enduring culture and one of our core values to serve our world. We are proud of our global teams working together to help make Marriott a force for good in the communities where we do business.”
With the accolade, People magazine highlighted the company’s global refugee hiring commitments; in 2022, Marriott pledged to hire 1,500 refugees by 2025 in the U.S. and made an additional commitment last year to hire more than 1,500 refugees throughout its European portfolio by 2026. Since those announcements, more than 1,000 refugees have been hired in the U.S. and 600 in Europe.
Additionally, Marriott’s Disaster Relief Fund has helped aid communities hit by natural disasters, including the wildfire that struck the island of Maui in Hawaii last year. This included housing and feeding locals and their families, providing essential goods and products, and providing daily lunches for affected students and faculty members at Maui schools throughout the following academic year.
The recognition on this list by People magazine comes after another accolade with inclusion on Great Place to Work’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list earlier this year.
