United Airlines and Jaguar Land Rover North America have launched the first gate-to-gate airport transfer service in the United States that uses an all-electric fleet. With service starting at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, United is offering chauffeured rides in the 2023 Jaguar I-PACE HSE for select MileagePlus Premier members to their connecting aircraft.
The I-PACE is the first all-electric performance SUV from Jaguar, featuring an estimated electric range of up to 246 miles and seating for five. Every vehicle will have Amazon Alexa connectivity and wireless device charging. “The new United-Jaguar ground transfer program offers travelers a moment of luxury and ease, while also raising sustainability standards for the airline industry,” says Luc Bondar, United marketing and loyalty vice president and MileagePlus president.
The vehicles are a benefit at United hub airports for select MileagePlus Premier members, who will be greeted by a Premier Services agent on the tarmac and given a ride to their connecting flight. “Both United and Jaguar have boldly pledged to advancing transportation technology that will help propel us toward a more sustainable future, and we are excited for travelers to have the opportunity to experience these innovations on the tarmac,” says Joe Eberhardt, president and CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America.
By the end of the year, Jaguar SUVs are set to make up to 60 trips transferring 1,000 passengers per day at United’s hub airports, including Denver, Houston, Newark/New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
As an added benefit, through Dec. 31, 2022, United MileagePlus members can earn 50,000 miles through the purchase or lease a new Jaguar vehicle.
